CALL FOR ACTORS

Whenever I involve myself with creative people, I come across something very interesting. Valerie Fioravanti, a talented writer of poetry and short stories has created an event called, Stories on Stage. This will be consecutive monthly readings of stories by Sacramento area short story writers and read by local actors who are able to interpret the literature well and give it their personal flavor. So, over the next few weeks, there will be a talent hunt and we'll have to move fast. First event i… Continue

ACTING CLASS

There are two skills and actor must learn in order to work in movies and TV - Cold Reading and Improvisation. Unlike Theater auditions, which often request monologues, Movie and TV auditions don't generally use prepared memorized material. In this class you will learn a technique of the Mosaic Acting System that allows you to use the subjective mind to quickly create a character with depth and substance, rather than just trying to "learn the words". These same tools can then be used to create a character for Screen, Stage or any type of performance. As the class progresses, we cover cold reading and audition techniques, as well as scene and monologue work. This class is appropriate for high school ages and older, and is limited to a minimum of 8 and maximum of 12 new students. Pre-registration by the Monday before the class is required.

This popular class will be presented on Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Tuition is $300, and includes an audio CD. (Repeat fee for prior students of this class is $150, space available.)

To register, send your minimum $150 deposit to: Charlie Holliday, PO Box 1142 , Rancho Cordova , CA 95741-1142 ,

Visit www.charlieactor.com for more class schedules.

NOTE!

Enrollment to all classes is limited and pre-registration to all classes is required, so don't delay! The last couple of classes people have showed up on the first day to find that the class was sold out.

Camera Package Needed for Short Film

Before 12 is gearing up to be shot soon and we are looking for all the pieces we still need. We are shooting a trailer for the film and already have a camera for that, but we are still looking for the actual camera package we will use for the film. It will need to be HD, and we'd like to create a 1080P image at 24p if we can.

Currently we have Mark Herzig as the DP, and an EX-1 camera to shoot the trailer with. It would be great to have the same kind of camera for the film as we use on the trailer.

But please let us know, whatever you have...

This is not a paid gig unless we can get a budget, but we will definitely feed you well and give you credit, and it will be great to work together and make a great film to go to festivals, etc.

If anyone out there can help, please contact Sandy Stoltz or Mike H. Wilson:

DP AND ACTORS NEEDED

Hi! I'm looking for an experienced Camera Operator/ DP with their own camera and actors to help with my short film. The film is about a young Native boy who struggles to complete a homework assignment despite all the distractions, and disruptions of reservation life.

Film will be shot mostly on location at the Hung A Leti reservation near South Lake Tahoe. The community is very supportive of the project and we will be using primarily Native cast and crew.

I am a filmmaker who grew up in the area, but now lives in LA and works in the film industry in various capacities. I am hoping to use this short film to add to my reel to apply for NYU's grad film program. It's not my first time around the block, so if you're looking to learn something from eachother working in a collaborative partnership, this would be a good fit. I'm a highly visual director and would like to plan the shots ahead of time in storyboard form with my DP. I've already begun this process, but the type of camera dictates what we
can do.  blooming.ruby@yahoo.com

PRODUCTION SUPPORT NEEDED

From "The Schempire", the team that brought the comedy “Pimp My Rascal” to the 2009 “Los Angeles Comedy Shorts Festival” is looking for crew for their follow-up short, “Abs Like Jesus.”

This is a very last minute, though fairly organized shoot in an effort to meet the deadline for this great festival. We'll be shooting in Fairfield, CA on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday NOVEMBER 22nd, 23rd and 24th (next week.) The scenes are very short, but the locations are numerous. We're looking for someone to operate a Panasonic 24p camera, as well as someone will a lav mic or two, or maybe just a boom and/or handheld mic, and someone with a very basic set of lights. Since this is an infomercial parody, the lighting can look appropriately cheesy to match...

Please email donovanschemke@hotmail.com or call 707-803-0308 with your experience and questions. We would like to work with fun people who love making films. We wish we could pay you, but we will feed you, and we will take this film to as much public notoriety as possible. It's a great opportunity for people looking to get experience/build their resume.

This is an infomercial parody of a work-out program called “Abs Like Jesus.” We consider ourselves to be respectful of religion, and Jesus. But this probably tests the boundaries a little bit. There is nothing gruesome or tasteless in it, it sends up infomercials mostly, but a sense of humor is required for involvement in this project.

Thank you for your interest!! See our 1st film, "Pimp My Rascal", an official selection at the 2009 L.A. Comedy Shorts Festival at www.jenniferschemke.com THANKS AGAIN!!

A Place Called Sacramento 10-5-08

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now Playing at the Embarcardero Center Cinema 9-08

It is summer, and thirty-year-old Antoine (Nicolas Cazalé) is forced to leave the city to return to his family in Provence. His father is sick, so he must assume the lifestyle he thought he had shed—driving the family grocery cart from hamlet to hamlet, delivering supplies to the few remaining inhabitants. Accompanied by Claire (Clotilde Hesme), a friend from Paris whom he has a secret crush on, Antoine gradually warms up to his experience in the country and his encounters with the villagers, who initially seem stubborn and gruff, but ultimately prove to be funny and endearing. This surprise French box-office hit is about the coming-of-age of a man re-discovering life and love in the countryside. Directed and co-written by Eric Guirado.

Location Needed

We need a quiet place to shoot a beautiful woman!
We have one last sequence to shoot and this Sunday (8/10) and need a space about the size of a large living room. Ideally, it would have hard-surface floors, a ten-foot or higher ceiling with acoustic/flourescent grid, A/C, bathrooms, power and controllable sound. An empty office space (a conference room?) w/ linoleum floors would work great. We need access from about 10am to 4pm. We can offer a tax credit and a screen credit for donated space.

The issue is now I have only 40 days left to raise $20,000. The money is being paired up with other money I am putting in to pay the cast & crew what they deserve. Without this money, I don't think I will be able to hire the quality people I want.

I am relying on people like you and Norcal film to get the word out so I can be in pre-production this summer & give Sac-town another GREAT opportunity! Go to the
