Stars of Matrix
Matthew Peak
June 6th

Mr Peak is an unusual painter who does design for video, cinema, soundtracks and books including some very well know properties such as the MATRIX, SIN CITY, LOST and the recent Sacramento Film Festival Feature, Finding Kraftland.

Mr Peak is also a painter known
for his imaginative allegorical and literary works. He paints beautiful, moody landscapes and figurative compositions that reflect his interest in Symbolist art and turn-of-the-century American illustration. Peak's father was the famous American illustrator Bob Peak (1927 - 1992), so he grew up in an artistic milieu. Although he was not certain about a career as an artist, Peak served an apprenticeship with his father and then furthered his training at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and finally the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League in New York.

Mathew Peak will join the Norcal film first Friday mixer on June 6th, location TBA

In The Spotlight... Access Sacramento

For the ninth year, Access Sacramento launches "A Place Called Sacramento" (PCS), short film production project for local writers and producers.
All script entries are currently being reviewed by a panel of local professionals and ten will be selected. These ten scriptwriter/producers are then introduced to actors and production teams at our Cast and Crew Call Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 6:00 PM. This event is open, free of charge, to the general public. If you want to brag about €œhelping my new friends make a movie€ during the summer months, this is your opportunity. No previous experience is necessary to help with moviemaking in some way. Volunteer production teams are formed€ pros and beginners and many folks in-between.

Can you help feed a crew? Help with locations? Do you have technical experience? Are you an actor? Come to the Cast & Crew Call, listen to the pitch from ten different script writers, choose those you would like to help, and then introduce yourself. It's that simple.

The World Premiere is at the CREST Theatre on October 5, 2008. To view previous PCS films, go to the web site www.accesssacramento.org.

MAY 2nd Norcal Film Welcomed:

Indie GOGO: where it happens
IndieGoGo is an online social marketplace connecting filmmakers and fans to make independent film happen.  The platform provides filmmakers the tools for project funding, recruiting, and promotion, while enabling the audience to discover and connect directly with filmmakers and the causes they support.

Founded on the principles of opportunity, transparency, choice, and action, IndieGoGo launched in 2008 to address the fundraising challenges and market inefficiencies affecting independent filmmaking today. They've already created funding for two projects! Thanks to the the company's CFO Danae Ringelmann for visiting us on May 2nd.
